I have been name the Secretary for the Board of Directions for the Side-Out Foundation. The Side-Out Foundation (Side-Out) was established in 2005 to raise money and awareness about Cancer through the recreational activity of volleyball. Our name underscores the purpose of our organization – “side-out” in volleyball occurs when one team wins a point while its opponent is serving, thereby regaining serve or control of play. Likewise in the war against Cancer, Side-Out will support health care professionals and researchers help women and men with Cancer maintain / regain control of their own lives through improved awareness, education, detection, treatment, and cure, thereby enabling them to live life to the fullest.

I was an Assistant Coach for the Annandale Atoms volleyball teams.

Metro American 17 South - Red: I was able to bring back the majority of my 16s team from the previous year and added some extrememly talented players to the team. We had a very successful season taking home 1 gold medal and 2 silver medals.

I am the Head Coach for the Annandale Atoms JV team and Assistant to the Varsity and Freshmen teams.

Metro American 16 South - Red: Intensity. This team was amazing. We took 2nd place in only our second tournament (losing only to our travel team in the finals) and never looked back. We played in the 17s bracket at the Capital Hill Classic and took on most of the Travel/Open teams from our region. This made us a very savvy and tested team. When we got to the Regional Championships, we went 8-1 on our net to take first in our pool and then lost a tough 3 game match in the play-offs to take third in the region. We also won a Gold Medal in the MVSA 16 Invitational OPEN and Team Force 15/16 Invitational. In Richmond for the South Atlantic Championships, we took 5th overall. I would love to put this team together again next year but I'm afraid I am going to lose a lot of the girls to our travel program. For the season, we had 13 tournaments, 157 games, played 38% of our games against Travel or U17 teams, and won 75% of our games against Regional 16 teams.

| I was the head coach for the Freshman
team and the assistant to the Varsity. Both teams were very
successful. The Freshmen team showed tons of improvement and were
very enthusiastic the entire season. The Varsity took second place
in the District for the second year in a row and made it to the second
round of the Regional Play-offs.
As it turns out, this looks to be my last team at West Springfield. After the season, the athletic director for the school informed the head coach that they would not be renewing his contract. It will be difficult not being able be a part of the success of the program next year. I will, however, take solace in the fact that what we built should be a strong program for many years. |

My first run at the head coaching position. I was the head coach of the Metro American Mayhem (16 & under Regional South team). Our season was very successful. We started off slow at our first tournament and came out with a very disappointing 3rd on our net (missing the play-offs). After that, we consistently made the play-offs. We took first place for our first gold of the year at the Team Force Invitational. At the Regional Championships, we lost a total of 3 games all day by a combined 8 points and missed the play-offs (very tough on the girls but we were very close). We won a Silver medal at the MVSA Capital Fest (2-day tournament). The team worked really well together and bonded very quickly..

Part two of my coaching resume put me at West Springfield HS. I was officially termed as the "floating coach" for the girls volleyball teams which was a fancy was of stating that I was the assistant to the Varsity, JV, and Freshmen teams. We had off-season, gym work-outs during the summer, try-outs in August, and our season ran August through October. It took a lot more of my time than I had expected but also was a lot more fun than I could have ever anticipated. The girls were great and the teams did well. Most of my time was spent assisting the Varsity team. We had a very successful season. We finished with a 6-1 regular season record in the Patriot District and were the runner-up in the Championship game (losing to a tough Lee team). We also made it to the second round of the Northern Regional Tournament (losing to Chantilly). Overall, the team was 16-8 on the season.

My first taste of coaching came as an assistant coach for the Metro American VBC Maniacs (girls regional 15s). We practiced 2-3 times a week and attended tournaments on weekends. The season was December through June. The season was a great learning experience and a lot of fun. Our record was not as good as we would have hoped, as we weren't able to win any of our tournaments, but we were a competitive team. The improvement of our team was great to see as the season went on. One thing that I was very proud of was that all of the girls went on to make either their JV or Varsity high school teams the following season.
