Shanty Town, Lazy River Float, and the Fireworks Show
When we arrived on Friday afternoon, Frank, Aimee, and Nuke had already set up our campsite (although, I find it had to call it camping after seeing all the gigantic tents, air mattresses, and cooking supplies). Because of the chance of rain, they had set up a tarp system to cover the entire site. Our campsite was right on the Shenandoah river. Because we had so much rain the past few months, the river was running very fast. It was almost impossible to stand in one place so we had a rope tied to a tree so we could go in the river to clean up or cool down.
Last year, Frank and Nuke bought all
their fireworks from Phantom Fireworks (and spent quite a bit of money) in
Pennsylvannia. Well, this year, Phantom Fireworks remembered them and gave
them a "Buy 1, Get 1 Free" card for all their purchases. On top
of this, they were running a "Buy 1, Get 2 Free" deal on Untamed
Retribution (a favorite of ours). With all these great deals, they came
back from Pennsylvania with enough fireworks to rival most small to mid-sized
towns.

And of coarse (being Engineers), they
created some assemblies beforehand to make the lighting go a little more
smoothly.

The next two pictures are my favorites,
they really show the story of the weekend :)

That night, they started the show.
It lasted for over an hour. I was afraid my camera battery was going to
run out. Unfortunately, I didn't have the speed set correctly so some of
the pictures are a bit blurry but they still came out okay.

After a while, there was so much smoke
in the air that you could barely see the fireworks.

The next morning we went on our annual
Lazy River Tube Float.
