March 2011

Leah has taken her first steps without the aid of mom & dad.  We enjoy going down to the beach walk to practice.  March also brought a lot of excitement to the region.  Japan was hit with a 9.1 Earthquake and a tsunami that wiped out a lot of towns.  There were also some nuclear reactors that leaked due to power outages.  While all of this happened on mainland (over 1100 miles away), we had a lot of communications with loved ones to let everyone know that we were (for the most part) uneffected.

Leah has become a member of Red Sox Nation.  We always knew she was smart :)

We had our first visitor.  Emily came to visit us and braved the earthquake, tsunami, and radiation but we had a great time.  We went to Okinawa World were we went spelunking, saw a show with live Habu Snakes, and tried some local Okinawan fruits.

As this is the last update for Leah's first year web site, I've included the first week of April up until her first birthday.  For Leah's first birthday, we had family photos taken at a local Okinawan photo studio complete with Japanese garb.

Leah's First Birthday Party.  On her first birthday, we celebrated with a cupcake and a candle.  For her birthday party, we rented a pavilion at Kadena Marina.  The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time.

Now that Leah is one year old, I will not be posting monthly pages but I will start an Okinawa site so everyone can keep up with all of our adventures.
