January 2011

Our winter months are upon us but that hasn't stopped us from getting out to explore.  Our weather has ranged from the low 50s to the high 70s so we try to take advantage of the nice weather whenever we can.  We started the year with a visit to Futemna Shrine to bring in the year of the rabbit.

Gillian had her first training assignment in Iwakuni (mainland), Japan and left Leah and Dad for the first extend time.  They survived :) and met Gillian at the airport upon her arrival.

As all of our floors are tile and we only have limited carpets, we bought some foam squares for Leah to be able to crawl around more of the living room.  She enjoys crawling on them and taking them apart.

Standing on our own is no problem and Leah can actually walk while only holding one hand.

Mommy found a chair at the mall and we are working on sitting (not climbing)

We now have 4 teeth and are working with drinking from sippy cups and glasses and eating rice rusks and puffs.

We love bath time

Being mobile, Leah's new favorite place to play is the stairs and front doorway.  Luckily, we have some gates to keep her off when we aren't standing there with her.

We visited the Cape Zanpa Lighthouse & Petting Zoo

We saw the Zakimi Castle Ruins

And we went to the Mt. Yaedake (Nago) Cherry Blossom Festival (althought we were a week too early as the blossoms had not yet bloomed)
